O'NEIL COMPANY'S OWNER CHECKLIST
PERMITS AND PAPERWORK
  • Pay county taxes and put tax sticker in window
  • Purchase city permits
  • Check city zoning
  • Check blocking requirements
  • Have title to house
  • Third party approval: to move obstacles, to move building off land or to cross someone elses property 
  • Contact all wire and utility companys with advance notice of 14 business days
  • Sign contract with O'Neil Co. to be put on schedule
  • Payment is to be given to O'Neil forman at the start of the job

GETTING BUILDING READY
  • Remove skirting, chimney, decks,sheds,additions,basement partitions, and debris
  • Disconnect, water, sewer,utilities,heater,ducting,and wiring
  • Disconnect and remove air conditioner, cross over ducting,propane tank, axels, hitches and tie-downs
  • Drain water beds and water heaters
  • Drain and winterize water pipes
  • Secure all appliances, windows, doors or any other objects not tied down
  • Remove and pack toilet tank lids
  • Nail down any loose roof shingles

ROUTE PREPARATION
  • Clear obstructions 100 ft arround building
  • Remove fences and mail boxes
  • Trim trees and bushes along route
  • Check road width at NARROWEST spot
  • Fill corners and approaches to 60 ft. combinations
  • Measure bridges, railroad crossings and cattle guards
  • Take cattle guards down if necessary
  • Check to see which utility company owns overhead power lines
  • Get right-of-way to travel over third party's land in writing
  • Check weight limits on bridges

NEW SITE PREPARATION
  • 40 ft. wide approach to site
  • Backfill and compact ditches and approaches
  • Have building location staked on property
  • Have sewer and water lines flush to ground level
  • Backfill concrete basement completely
  • Back fill corners of wood basement
  • Level or move excess dirt from site
  • Brace and streighten wood basement walls
  • Install beam knockouts
  • Install and brace supporting walls
  • Cut anchor bolts off flush with sill
  • Have sill sealer ready to install around perimeter
  • Make basement 2 inches smaller overall then the dimensions of the house
  • Have 2X6 planks available to replace rotten sill plates
  • Pour concrete footings for chimney
  • Notify utilities for new site services
  • Have extra blocking and shimming material available

MOVING DAY
  • Have your contractor present at new site
  • Make sure tax sticker is in window
  • Bring a pickup to haul your concrete blocks
  • Be at the site on time if you are providing an escort car on route
  • Bring any tools neceessary to reinstall cattle guards and fencing
  • Take down and replace signs, mail boxes, fencing and cattle guards, if necessary
  • Load skirting material and air conditioners
  • Bring trailer for loading decks or sheds, if they are being moved
  • Check for fragile items and secure before move
  • Lock and secure all windows and doors
  • Provide a phone number where you can be reached incase problems arise
